Gus Bickford Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party states “As we have seen throughout our state and nationwide, we must remain as vigilant as ever to
ensure that our values are the guiding principles for our governance. We are the Party of inclusion. We are the Party dedicated to fighting to better the lives of all – including our working
families, seniors, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and communities of color. We look forward to coming together, as a Party, to ensure we are electing strong Democratic candidates to fightfor us at home and in Washington.
We are committed to ensuring that all delegates are able to attend our Convention, regardless of financial standing. I would like to commend the many Democratic Town and Ward
Committees and elected officials for their generosity in subsidizing the fee for their delegates and alternates. Students, seniors, and persons with disabilities are eligible for a reduced rate of $50, and any delegate in need is encouraged to apply for a fee waiver.
The Convention will be held on FRIDAY., JUNE 1, 2018 and SATURDAY, JUNE 2 at the DCU Center in Worcester
“Our caucuses are a great opportunity to strengthen our Party’s organization and to welcome new participants who are interested in getting involved in our Party,” commented Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Gus Bickford. “Delegates will be voting on our Party Platform in Lowell, and we want to make sure that every Democrat has a voice in this process. This is a time for all of us to come together and speak to our shared Democratic values.”
The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Brockton, and the Brockton Democratic City Committee welcomes all eligible participants. Any person who is not 18 years of age at the time of the caucus but will be 18 by the 2018 Primary date (September 11, 2018) may pre-register to vote with the Brockton Elections Commission. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women, and all ballots will be written and secret. In the spirit of inclusion, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be add-on delegates, either at their caucus or online at www.massdems.org
